Center-Sponsored Opportunities

The list below contains the opportunities administered by the Center for Research and Fellowships. Please contact undergradresearch@georgetown.edu with any questions.

The Lisa J. Raines Fellowship for Independent Summer Research

The Raines Grand Challenge Summer Research Fellowship is an extraordinary opportunity for Georgetown sophomores and juniors wishing to conduct independent summer research related to an intractable “grand challenge.” Raines Fellows create and pursue their own projects while also meeting as a cohort to share their research, identify cross-disciplinary touch points, and network with faculty. Each recipient will receive a total of $5,000 for the summer.

Kalorama Summer Research Fellowship

The Kalorama Summer Research Fellowship funds independent student research in the humanities, social sciences, and environmental sciences. The Kalorama gives students the opportunity to design, develop, and conduct a project with the support of a faculty sponsor. However, the research cannot be the same as the mentor’s own research. First-years, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to apply. Each recipient will receive a total of $5,000 for the summer.

GUROP Research Fellowship

The GUROP Research Fellowship Program supports mentored research assistantship in any field. Structured by semester (including the summer), students of all years and disciplines are eligible. Successful completion of a GUROP research assistantship grants transcription notation and broadens students’ skillsets.
