Soros Fellowship for New Americans

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a merit-based fellowship exclusively for immigrants and children of immigrants who are pursuing graduate school in the United States. The program seeks to assist new Americans in pursuing their career goals through graduate study at any accredited U.S. institution. Each award is for up to $25,000 in stipend support a year, as well as 50 percent of required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 per year, for one to two years. 

Eligibility

  • A New American (a green card holder or naturalized citizen if born abroad; a child of naturalized citizens if born in this country).
  • Not yet 31 years old, as of the application deadline. A college senior or holder of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Not beyond your second year – if already enrolled – in the graduate degree program for which you request support.

     

Application Process

Applicants should apply directly to the fellowship on the website as they will not require university nomination. The application for the Fellowship typically opens from April to October each year.  More information on the application process
